If there is one thing I should tell my younger self today, it would be;
Alia, despite your weight gain and your dark circle, you turn out pretty well for a 26 year old lady. You now have an income and commitments too. Your friends that you made throughout your high school years and dental school, even after a decade, they all stayed true with you.
Your parents are growing old day by day. And even so they still wait for you to come home from work. Like today they wait up till 10pm just to enjoy cake with you. They are no longer working. They frequent the masjids for ceramah agama. They pick up new hobby like gardening and of course they travel every other month leaving your single working ass alone.
I remember as a kid, I imagine myself at 2019/2020 hoping that I'd be the cool adult one day. I hope I don't disappoint you haha. Although at times, I miss my younger self, I think I am okay with myself now too.
I pray as I grow older I don't lose my true sense of self. I pray I become the adult that look beyond people's status, that respect everyone regardless their values in life while staying true to my root and faith.
And I hope one day when I become the adult at 40, I will still be proud of myself too 💛
